As a Chrome Enterprise administrator, you can block and allow URLs so that users can only visit certain websites. Restricting users’ internet access can increase productivity and protect your. Open chrome and on the top-right corner of the browser, click Settings. Select the option ‘People’ from the top left side of the page. Select 'Sync and Google services', under which you’ll see an option that says ‘Safe Browsing’. Turn it off and you’re done.

  • You can stop Google Chrome from blocking downloads by temporarily turning off the Safe Browsing feature, located in the Privacy and security section of Chrome's Settings page.
  • Chrome's Safe Browsing feature is designed to protect you from malicious websites and infected files that can damage your computer or compromise your security.

Chrome's built-in security tools are your first line of defense against online malware, including dangerous websites and malicious downloads.

Unfortunately, Chrome is sometimes too cautious and can block perfectly safe files, which it believes might be dangerous.

If you are trying to download a file, but Chrome won't allow it, you can temporarily (or permanently) disable the browser's security. Of course, you should be sure the file is safe before you choose to override Chrome's protection.

How to stop Chrome from blocking downloads

1. Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu at the top right of the window.

2. In the drop-down menu, choose 'Settings.'

3. On the Settings page, in the You and Google section, click 'Privacy and security.'

4. In the Privacy and Security section of the main page, click 'Security.'

5. In the Safe Browsing section, click 'No protection (not recommended)' to turn the feature off.

6. Click 'Turn off' in the pop-up to confirm you want to do this.

7. Download the file that was blocked.

How to Turn on SafeSearch on Chrome

To filter out Google search results that are explicit or inappropriate for children, go to google.com/preferences and click the box next to Turn on SafeSearch. Then make sure to click Lock SafeSearch to save your changes.

You will know that SafeSearch is turned on and locked if you see colorful spheres in the top-right corner of Google.

Note: This will only block inappropriate and explicit websites from appearing on Google searches for that user. If you want to totally block your children from visiting harmful websites, follow the steps below.

How to Block Specific Websites on Chrome Using theBlock Site Extension

One of the easiest waysto block websites on Chrome is to download the Block Site extension fromthe Chrome Web Store. Then you can add specific websites and keywords you wantto block and click the green plus sign.

  1. Open Chrome and download the Block Site extension. You can find this extension in the Chrome Web Store here.
  2. Then click Add to Chrome. You will see this in the upper-right portion of your window. Once you click this, a pop-up window will appear at the top of your browser window.
  3. Next, click Add Extension in the pop-up window. The extension will automatically be downloaded and added to Chrome. Then you will see a new tab open.
  4. Then click Agree in the new tab. This gives the extension permission to access information on the sites you visit.
  5. Add the site(s) that you want to block in the Block Site search bar. Block Site places their orange “Block Site” shield icon at the upper right side of your browser window. You can access the extension at any time by clicking on this icon.
  6. Then click the green plus sign to add a blocked site.

    You can also block sites by keyword, add password protection, and more by clicking one of the options in the left sidebar.

    Note: If you are setting this extension up to block your kids from going to certain websites, make sure to set up a password for blocked sites and for the extension as well.

  7. Finally, test the extension by going to a website that you blocked.

You can quickly block a new site by clicking the extension button in the top-right corner of your browser window. This is the button that looks like a red shield next to your address bar. Then click the Block this site button.
