  • City staff will reach out to Garage Sale Hosts in June, closer to the Citywide Garage Sale, about the process for picking up their Citywide Garage Sale yard signs.

Cruis’n and Cook’n Car Show

The Twin Lakes Cruisers’ annual Cruis’n and Cook’n Car Show is held in conjunction with the Smoke in the Spring event. The popular yearly show has had as many as 300 classic or specialty vehicles on exhibit, making for a large, fun, community gathering in downtown Osage City. Have a car you want to show? A Taste of Osage City

On Friday night of Smoke in the Spring weekend, April 9, 2021, A Taste of Osage City offers everyone a chance to sample the fine cuisine smoked up by championship barbecue competitors. Selected barbecue cooks serve their choice of smoked meats and other backyard dishes in exchange for BBQ Bucks, which can be purchased at the event or in advance. In addition to the giant outdoor smorgasbord, the evening includes live music and a party open to all ages.

Smoke in the Spring, a Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned contest and a state barbecue championship, will be April 9-10, 2021. The signature event attracted approximately 100 barbecue teams in 2020, along with a like amount of certified barbecue judges. The event receives strong support from the city, county and area residents who extend their hospitality to visitors. With Smoke in the Spring’s goal to offer the best barbecue experience possible, Friday night of Smoke in the Spring weekend includes a giant public barbecue party, allowing everyone to have A Taste of Osage City. Osage City Citywide Garage Sales

The Chamber hosts the Osage City citywide garage sales in theSpring, April 16 and 17, 2021 and in the Fall, September 17 and 18, 2021. Osage County Fair – “Honoring Hometown Heroes “

The annual Osage County Fair, held in Osage City at Jones Park, draws spectators and participants from across Osage County and the northeast Kansas region to its talent contest, parade, live music and 4-H and open-class exhibits. Annual fun and entertainment for the entire family! The fair dates are July 7-10, 2021.

The Osage City Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Osage County Fair Parade. All floats or other entries are welcomed in the parade which travels from west to east on Osage City’s Market Street, ending downtown. In conjunction with the annual Osage County Fair Parade, the Chamber of Commerce will be having the Kids Decorated Bicycle Parade again this year. The kids parade will precede the fair parade lining up at 6:00 p.m. with the parade beginning at 6:15.

Community Fireworks Spectacular

Be sure to mark your calendar for the Osage City annual community fireworks spectacular which will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Jones Park Area. The fireworks celebration will be the finale of the Osage County Fair week. Saturday will be filled with a variety of activities for the entire family to participate in. The celebration will start at 10:00. Refer to the Fair Schedule listed on the osagecountyfair.org website.

Osage City Chamber of Commerce Festival of Beer

Gather with other beer aficionados to sample beer and fermented beverages brewed in Kansas and beyond during the Osage City Chamber of Commerce Festival of Beer. At the seventh annual event, held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 4:00-7:00, more than 50 varieties of beverages were sampled. The eighth annual Beer Fest date will be announced soon. The event was held at the 4H Pavillion, Jones Park. Advanced tickets were $25; at the door $30. Must be 21 to attend. If you think you’d enjoy sampling a plethora of beer varieties in the company of a bunch of fellow beer lovers, the Festival of Beer is for you!

“Last Light To Bite The Dust”

Select your numbered light bulb(s) for $10 at McCoy’s RadioShack and see if it outlasts them all.

Each light bulb will have a number from 1 to 50, starting from the light plug. The competition will not start until every light bulb has been purchased. The string of lights will stay on until the “Last Light Bites The Dust” and burns out. Winner will receive half ($250) of the $500 pot. The other half of the proceeds goes to the Osage City Chamber of Commerce toward a community service project.

Christmas On Market Street – “Candyland Christmas”

Each November, area merchants kick off the holiday season with the annual Christmas On Market Street, featuring a parade, window decorating contest, raffle and more. Christmas on Market 2021 date will be announced soon. Plan to visit Osage City to kick off your Christmas shopping, spend the day, and celebrate the holidays. 2021 Schedule of Events The theme for the 2021 event is “Candyland Christmas”.

In addition to shopping, activities will be held throughout the day including breakfast, lunch, virtual visits with Santa, Jingle Bell Run 5K, in-store activities, RadioShack toy expo, portrait painting, gingerbread house kits, raffle drawing (2021 Raffle Prizes), Kansas City Chief’s Wolf mascot, free photo booth, free poker run, axe throw, barn quilt ornament, bake sale, emergency services showcase, story time, quarter bingo and the traditional lighted Christmas parade (more info and entry form here). The theme for the parade is “Candyland Christmas” and there is no entry fee for the parade.

Raffle tickets will be available starting Oct. 28 at the following businesses: AuBurn Pharmacy, Branded Graphics, Canine Country Clips, Furniture Loft, Hair Designs by Diane, Harmon Dental, Marilynn’s Restaurant, McCoy’s RadioShack, Osage City Public Library, Osage Hardware, Ramblin’ Rose, Ridge Iron Grill, and Subway. On the day of the event, you can purchase tickets at the Senior Center.

Due to the uncertainty of the COVID situation as safety to the public is the utmost concern with regards to the event, some of the activities have been adjusted or canceled for this year. Hopefully the pandemic will be over & things can resume back to normal for next year. SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MASKS ARE ENCOURAGED throughout the day.

This year there is going to be an additional raffle drawing at Christmas on Market event. Tricia Gundy, Peterson Assisted Living donated a Ruger 10/22 Carbine Rifle as a fundraiser for the Chamber of Commerce. Specifications for the rifle include a black synthetic stock, gold bead front sight, adjustable rear sight, satin black barrel finish, 37″ overall length/18.50″ barrel length. Tickets may be purchased at several local businesses including AG Choice elevator, Bank of Osage City, Barber John, Haskins Oil, NAPA, ORBIS & also at the Senior Center the day of the event. Tickets will be 1 for $10, 3 for $25 and 6 for $50. The drawing will be held at 2:15-2:30 in conjunction with the original raffle drawing.

“Are you the 2020 Osage City Home Town Santa?”

Shop in your hometown, ask anyone that you meet on the street or in the businesses during the period of November 14 through December 24, “Are you the 2020 Osage City Home Town Santa”? If you are lucky & the person you ask is the Osage City Home Town Santa, you will receive a $20 Chamber Buck Certificate to be used at the participating business.

Christmas/Holiday Yard of the Month
The Osage City Chamber will again be sponsoring a Christmas/Holiday Yard of the Month contest which will be held from November 30-December 16. There will be two categories with the selection of a yard decorated with Synchronized Lights With Music & one with Christmas/Holiday Décor with lighted displays. The selection will be determined on December 16. In appreciation of the beauty and hard work for the selected yards, the home owners will a receive a $25 Osage City Chamber Bucks Certificate to be used at any participating Osage City business.

Drive-By Holiday Home Tour NEW in 2020!

City Wide Garage Sales

Since the Holiday Tour of Homes was canceled for 2020, a decision was made by the members to modify the 2020 Holiday Home Tour to a ”Drive-ByHoliday Home Decorating Tour”. Families decorate their home for the holidays and enter their home in the “Drive-By Holiday Home Decorating Tour” event which will be sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. The committee will compile a list of the homes that are submitted & create a map with a route to tour the homes. Deadline to have your name on the map is December 1. The committee also recommends, if possible to have your home decorated for the tour by December 12. Call Jeanette Swarts at 785-249-5451 with your name and address before December 1. (This is a separate event from the Yard of the Month contest.)

Holiday Tour of Homes CANCELED TILL 2021

The Chamber of Commerce 2020 Holiday Tour of Homes have been canceled due to the uncertainty of the COVID situation. Will plan to resume the event in 2021.

Tickets will be $5.00 available prior to the tour at Ramblin’ Rose and at the selected homes the day of the tour.

With utmost disappointment, the Osage City Chamber of Commerce, local Churches and organizations have decided to cancel the Holiday Community Dinner for 2020. With the uncertainty of the COVID situation, safety to the public is the utmost concern with regards to the event.

City Wide Garage Sale 2020

An invitation is extended to anyone that would like to attend and also showing appreciation to those that support and participate in the events throughout the year. The date for the dinner will be announced soon and the dinner will be at the Osage County Senior Center. The center will be open at 11:00 a.m. if you choose to participate in some activities or just visit with your friends and family. Starting at noon, the traditional Thanksgiving meal will be served until 2:00. A free will donation is optional.
