When Stephenie Meyer first wrote Twilight, she had absolutely no idea her story would entrance millions and warrant a major film franchise. However, The Twilight Saga movies: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and Breaking Dawn – Part 2 became a global phenomenon and made billions of dollars at the box office. And because Meyer was responsible for creating the characters, she had a lot of influence on the films.
Meyer acted as somewhat of a consultant on the Twilight movies. She was allowed to give her notes on the scripts as well as character behavior. She also was responsible for some of the movies’ more artistic details. For example, she had a ton of input on Bella’s wedding dress. Furthermore, the author served as a resource for the actors if ever they had trouble understanding their chracters’ motives.

One particular instance where Meyer put her foot down was for the iconic tent scene in Eclipse. Fans of Twilight will recall that this scene occurs right before the Cullens and the Quileutes battle Victoria and her newborns. Because of weather conditions, Edward, Bella, and Jacob were all confined to a small tent together. Meyer took issue with the way the original version of the scene was shot and she demanded a reshoot.

But what about the infamous Eclipse tent scene did the Twilight author take offense to? According to Meyer, the blocking of the scene was off. In a 2010 interview, Meyer revealed that in the original shoot, Jacob and Bella were not spooning each other in the sleeping bag. In fact, they weren’t touching at all.

“In the original version, Jacob gets into the sleeping bag and doesn’t touch her,” Meyer revealed. The Twilight author also shared that that particular choice made absolutely no sense to her, even if someone didn’t know about Jacob’s heightened werewolf temperature. “Even if he were human, you know to keep someone warm you would do that,” Meyer declared. “And then you have the extra added thing you know this is the girl he’s in love with. He’s in a sleeping bag with her. I mean, come on! And it just…I was like: ‘What? What? Why isn’t he touching her? Why isn’t he touching her?!'”

Continuing on, Meyer confessed that she was so bothered by the scene that she demanded a reshoot for the infamous Eclipse scene. Of course, Twilight fans know that Meyer got her wish, and Jacob and Bella are in fact touching in the reshot version. However, she also admitted that she would’ve preferred to see Jacob enveloping Bella even more in the reshoot. Though Meyer may not have gotten exactly what she wanted, she clearly made the right call. We’re sure Team Jacob would have rioted if they were robbed of this moment.
